Mudras: Yoga in your Hands
by Gertrud Hirschi

This book is highly recommended as an introduction to all things mudras or "hand yoga". The author begins with exploring the concept of mudras; their purpose, where they come from and the relationship to other healing elements. She also touches on acupressure, meridians and reflexology in relationship to the hands.

She then gives detailed lessons (with drawings) on over 50 mudras. It includes how and where to place your hands, how long to hold it, what it is specifically good for and affirmations to go along with the gesture. You can search the mudras both by name or purpose.

Also included are full body mudras as well as deeper meditations to enhance your practice.

My personal favorite is the Lotus Mudra; which represents bringing light out of darkness.
